The 15-Minute Unsubscribe: Clear Space, Save Sanity

Digital declutter the easy, breezy summer way with a 15-minute unsubscribe.
Is your inbox begging for a break? This post will help you lighten the load—fast.

The last few weeks, I’ve been all about deep insights and powerful revelations. ZING! Love that for me.

But sometimes the real genius move—the one that brings instant relief and peace—isn’t a major life breakthrough. It’s a good old-fashioned unsubscribe and delete-a-thon. That’s why today I bring you: the 15-minute unsubscribe. It’s the chill you need this summer.

My summer has been full in that classic parent-as-an-unpaid-Uber way. Between the heat and the hustle, I’ve got zero ducks left for an inbox overflowing with emails I never asked for. We placed one to-go order from Whataburger, and now they think we’re in a committed relationship?

In the words of a very un-talkative teen in my life:
“Doubt.”

Where the Overwhelm Really Lives

Still, I have to thank the deluge of marketing emails for showing me something important:

Where else am I getting squeezed, besides my attention?

I may not have hours every day to solve this, but I do have 15 minutes right now to flex my clutter genius and TCOB, baby. So…

LET’S UNSUBSCRIBE.

Take 15 minutes to clear the decks. Delete. Cancel. Let go.

It’s so simple it almost feels silly… but it adds up. It saves time, money, and mental bandwidth—the currency of summer chillitude.

That’s the beauty of a 15-minute unsubscribe—no drama, no huge commitment, just a quick clarity boost right when you need it most.

5 Fast Places to Look for Subscriptions:

This isn’t a purge. This isn’t a challenge.
It’s a deep breath and a low-effort way to clear clutter.

Here’s where you might want to look:

  • Email subscriptions (Yes, Whataburger 🙄, but even my CG one… pearl clutch!)
  • App subscriptions (check your phone settings)
  • Streaming/entertainment (TV, music, gaming)
  • Premium shopping memberships (Amazon, Costco, Walmart+, Target 360, etc.)
  • Subscription boxes (beauty, food, clothes, pet treats)

Why the 15-Minute Unsubscribe Works Even If You Don’t Finish

There’s no big trick to it, just take a look at what’s there and spend 15 focused minutes deleting and unsubscribing.

You might not get done after 15 minutes. In fact, unless all these things were in perfect order when you woke up this morning, I can practically guarantee you won’t. That’s okay; more email is always on the way! Try it again tomorrow or next week or next month and lighten your load like the tortoise: slow and steady. 🐢

It feels good just to be in the race!

Need Some Help Getting Started?

If you want a little structure to guide you or make this more of a deep dive sitch, I’ve got a gift: Finding Your Unsub (Google doc)—a mini project from my 10×10 Challenge that helps you track down sneaky subscriptions and make choices from a grounded, heart-centered place. Like all my workbooks, it’s re-usable, totally customizable and I’ll never ask for it back. And I don’t need to get your email to give it to you, unless you want to give it to me and then…

Ironic Invitation

Yes, I did just encourage you to unsubscribe from things.
But if you’re into useful, hilarious, occasionally irreverent real talk about life, clutter, energy, and the odd Whataburger rant, my newsletter might actually earn its spot in your inbox.

No guilt if it doesn’t—unsubscribe is always on the table (I practice what I preach).

If you’re curious, you can test the waters and learn something about yourself: Take the Cluttered Genius Quiz—it’s fun, fast, and you’ll get a personalized tool to help you start clearing space right away. Bonus? It signs you up for the newsletter too. One click. Two wins. Zero clutter.
